On May 26, Elkem Xinghuo Silicones unveiled Jiangxi’s first Joint Innovation Laboratory for 5G plus Smart Chemical Industry. The lab was co-established by Elkem Xinghuo Silicones and Jiujiang Branch of China Telecom and supported by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Eshore Technology Co., Ltd. It marked the first attempt in the application of 5G in traditional chemical industry. It aims to establish a 5G technology innovation platform through powerful cooperation and open a new road for 5G plus smart chemical industry under the new upgrading.

The year of 2019 initiated 5G development, which is in alignment with the national development strategy. Elkem Xinghuo Silicones has cooperated with China Telecom’s Jiujiang Branch for many times. The latter was successfully declared as one of the few “5G application pilot enterprises” in China Telecom. They co-founded the laboratory to explore the effective application of 5G technology in enterprise safety, environmental protection, production, operation and other aspects and to make efforts to build a leading smart manufacturing enterprise for 5G applications ?in the chemical industry.

The two sides signed the Phase-I Construction Project Contract for 5G plus Smart Chemical Industry of Xinghuo Silicones. The lab is featured by introduction of application Scenarios of 5G plus smart chemical industry, 5G application experience (5G speed measurement, 5G HD camera experience, and monitoring experience of 5G plus AI safety cap). It will focus on the four core aspects of safety, environmental protection, quality, and production benefits in traditional chemical production. The innovation lab will achieve fine management and lean production by using 5G technology’s advantages such as higher capacity, stronger reliability, and shorter delay. After the establishment of the lab, Elkem Xinghuo Silicones has invested about RMB5 million annually in the R&D experiment of 5G plus smart chemical industry. The “5G Internet” technology has been widely applied in mapping out green, refined, intelligent, and international strategies for the sustainable development of enterprises.
